Privacy Policy
BuddyCare (“BuddyCare,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides software that helps veterinary clinics and pet owners manage pet health together, including our web application for clinics and our mobile app for pet owners (collectively, the “Service”). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account information
- Name and email address when you create an account.
- Phone number, if you choose to provide one for appointment or contact purposes.
Pet health information
- Pet profiles (name, species, breed, date of birth, weight, photos).
- Medical records entered by your veterinary clinic or by you, including visit notes, vaccinations, lab results, diagnoses, prescriptions, and diet information.
- Documents and photos you or your clinic upload.
Device and usage information
- Push notification tokens, device type, and app version, used to deliver notifications and diagnose problems.
- Service logs (such as API requests and error reports) used for security and reliability.
Biometric authentication
If you enable Face ID or Touch ID, authentication happens entirely on your device using Apple’s APIs. Biometric data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to or stored by BuddyCare.
How we use information
- To provide the Service: storing and displaying pet health records, scheduling appointments, and connecting pet owners with their veterinary clinics.
- To generate AI-assisted features such as visit summaries, care plans, and health insights from records your clinic already maintains.
- To send service notifications you have opted into (appointment reminders, record updates).
- To secure, maintain, and improve the Service.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not show ads, and we do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
AI features and service providers
Some features use large language models to draft summaries and insights from existing medical records. When these features run, relevant record content is processed by our AI service provider, OpenAI, under API terms that prohibit using the data to train their models. Outputs are drafts that remain subject to review within the Service.
We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — cloud hosting, storage, and email delivery. All data is stored in the United States.
- OpenAI — AI-assisted summaries and insights, as described above.
- Apple and Expo — delivery of push notifications to your device.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of BuddyCare, our users, or others.
Sharing between owners and clinics
BuddyCare connects pet owners with veterinary clinics. When your account is linked to a clinic, that clinic’s authorized staff can see the records for your pets in their care, and you can see records the clinic shares with you. Information you submit through the app (such as appointment requests or refill requests) is shared with your clinic.
Data retention and deletion
We retain information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting support@dev.petwyze.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records by law or where records belong to your veterinary clinic’s medical files.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Access to production systems is restricted, logged, and audited. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and notify you through the Service.
